GE Names Trotter to Lead Industrial

General Electric Company (Fairfield, Connecticut, U.S.) named Lloyd G. Trotter to lead GE's Industrial business. Trotter was also named a GE vice chairman. Trotter will succeed John G. Rice, named head of GE's Infrastructure business.

GE Industrial includes the appliance business, GE Consumer & Industrial, as well as Plastics, Advanced Materials, Security, Sensing, Fanuc, Inspection Technologies, and Equipment Services. It is a U.S. $35-billion business that GE expects to grow earnings 15 percent in 2006.

Trotter is a 36-year GE veteran and has led several Industrial units, including GE Consumer & Industrial. For the past year, Trotter has been executive vice president, operations, reporting directly to GE Chairman and CEO Jeffrey R. Immelt. Trotter lead efforts to lower structural cost, improve operational excellence across GE and achieve world-class excellence in GE's supply chain.

"Lloyd Trotter is a seasoned GE veteran who knows our Industrial businesses inside and out," Immelt said. "He will be a great leader for a talented team of experienced executives as we work to refocus the portfolio, expand margins and create growth opportunities."

The appointment is effective immediately.
