A report from German Deutsche Welle, www.dw-world.de, said Poland is losing some of the advantages that made it a favorite outsourcing destination of European manufacturers in recent years, including a number of appliance OEMs.

Report author Thomas Rautenberg explained that the vast pool of workers in Poland does not translate to an endless supply of skilled workers, which are harder to find, which in turn is causing wages to increase. The report quoted a union leader in Poland who observed that production moving from Germany to Poland could continue moving east, to locations such as the Ukraine, as wages in Poland make it appear to be less of a manufacturing bargain.
