The ZigBee Alliance (San Ramon, California, U.S.), a global association of companies creating wireless technology for home, commercial and industrial applications, said it reached three key milestones recently. One is that its members have now shipped more than 10,000 developer kits. Another is the processing of 29,000-plus free downloads of the specification in 1 year. Finally, the alliance certified its thirteenth ZigBee Compliant Platform (ZCP). The newest certified ZCP is from RadioPulse in Korea.

“These are all leading indicators for the number of ZigBee products being built by OEMs,” said Jim Sekinger, director of business development digital systems Philips Lighting Electronics.

Alliance members are currently selling radios, software, tools, services, and end-user products based on ZigBee for the residential, commercial and industrial markets.
