Samsung plans an LCD plant in Slovakia, with financial incentives provided by the Slovakian government, according to news Web site evertiq.com. About 75 million euros (approx. U.S. $100 million) will come from the government, amounting to about 23 percent of the total investment for the plant.
The news outlet said the government will give Samsung a direct grant of 51.2 million euros (approx. $67.9 million), tax relief amounting to 18.7 million euros (approx. $24.8 million) and new employee wage contributions of 5 million euros (approx. $6.6 million). European Commission approval of the funding is still required.
