Lennox Appoints New Chairman

HVAC maker Lennox International Inc. appointed Richard L. Thompson, vice chairman and board member, to succeed John W. Norris, Jr. as chairman on Norris' retirement.

Norris retired July 21, 2006. The company originally announced his plans to retire, along with the recommendation for the appointment of Mr. Thompson, in an announcement on January 30, 2006.

Thompson is a former group president for Caterpillar Inc., a manufacturer of construction and mining equipment. Thompson also serves as a director for Gardner Denver, Inc., a manufacturer of air compressors, blowers and petroleum pumps; and for NiSource Inc., a natural gas and electric utility. He is also a former director of the National Association of Manufacturers and Proctor Community Hospital in Peoria, Illinois, U.S.
