Whirlpool Corporation (Benton Harbor, Michigan, U.S.) will receive the 2007 Energy Star® Partner of the Year Award for Sustained Excellence from the U.S. Department of Energy and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The award goes to organizations that have exhibited outstanding environmental leadership year after year while sustaining product and marketing excellence. It will be the company's eighth Energy Star Award win.  Whirlpool will be formally recognized at an awards ceremony in Washington, D.C. on March 21, 2007.

Whirlpool has been an Energy Star partner since 1998 and the DOE/EPA cited the company's commitment to offering a compelling depth and breadth of Energy Star-qualified products, training programs, marketing campaigns, and national consumer education activities.

"Whirlpool regards the Energy Star program as one of its most important partnerships because Energy Star offers more than rhetoric to efforts at conserving the world' nonrenewable resources - Energy Star produces solid results for consumers," said Dave Swift, president, Whirlpool North America.
