Swiss-based Jura Elektroapparate AG, producer of high-end automatic coffee centers, was awarded the Solothurn Entrepreneurship Award in Switzerland. The Solothurn Entrepreneurship Award recognizes Jura's accomplishments in achieving worldwide category leadership through new product innovation and focused marketing strategies. Dr. Edgar Fluri, board chairman of Price Waterhouse Coopers Switzerland, presented the award, which includes prize money of more than U.S. $16,000.

Jura said it will use the prize money to create its own Design Award to promote a new generation of product designers.

"Setting up a Design Award with the prize money is another example of an overriding commitment to creating the best in high-end coffee equipment for the home, both now and in the future," said Michael Kramm, founder and president of Capresso, which distributes Jura coffee centers in the U.S. under the Jura-Capresso brand name at retail process from $999.  Specialty models, such as the Impressa Z6, Model 13299 (pictured), retail for $3,599 and feature a curved, high-gloss chrome plated-plated aluminum front, as well as a highly polished mirrored display designed so that the LED information shines through the mirror finish.
