DVRs (digital video recorders) have entered the hypergrowth phase, reaching more than 13 million households in the U.S. According to a new Forrester Research report, Toward DVR Ubiquity, 17 percent of digital cable subscribers and 19 percent of satellite subscriber households have DVRs. DVRs will surpass 50 percent of homes within 4 years.
The report said the market will now turn to its next frontier: DVRs on multiple TVs and whole-home DVR capabilities, such as photo viewing and access to Internet content.
