Candy Group Opens Russian Washing Machine Plant

Italy-based appliance maker Candy Group started production at its new washing machine plant in Russia.

In 2005, Candy purchased the Vesta plant in the Kirov Region for 15 million euros (approx. U.S. $19 million) to produce Vyatka washing machines.

Candy's CEO Silvano Fumagalli said the facility would produce 140,000 washing machines a year. He said investment would almost triple to 7 million euros (approx. $8.8 million) in 2007 and output increase to 240,000 machines.
