PCI Elects Bechtold President, Names Azzam to Hall of Fame

Phil Bechtold was named president of the Powder Coating Institute for the 2006-2007 fiscal year. The appointment came during the PCI Annual Meeting in May at the La Quinta Resort, in La Quinta, California. Bechtold (pictured) is sales manager, Industrial and Consumer Goods for Rohm & Haas Powder Coatings.
Steve Houston of DuPont Powder Coatings USA, Inc. takes the position of PCI vice president. Chris Merritt of ITW Gema was elected PCI secretary/treasurer.
Elected to the PCI board were:
Bob Cregg of the Sherwin Williams Company
Ron Cudzilo of George Koch Sons, LLC
Dave Heflin of Akzo Nobel Inc./Interpon Powder Coatings
Continuing to serve on the PCI Board are:
Ken Kreeger of Nordson Corporation
Ralph Owens of EMS-Primid
Chris Wright of Carolinas Custom Clad, serving as the PCI Custom Coater Representative to the board
Azzam Inducted into PCI Hall of Fame
Also at the meeting, PCI honored Hani Azzam, a powder coating pioneer who made major contributions to the industry, with a PCI Hall of Fame Award. Azzam was a founding member of PCI in 1981 and was a promoter of powder coatings in the early years. He helped attract new members to PCI and was one of the pioneers of electrostatic powder coating application, bringing the Gema application equipment line to the U.S. in 1969. He served on the PCI board from 1981 to 1983.
