Haier's Zhang Wins Lifetime Achievement Award

Haier CEO Zhang Ruimin received a Lifetime Achievement Award during the recent 2006 China Entrepreneur Summit, held in Peking University.

The summit was organized by Contemporary Manager magazine and Peking University Market Economy Academy (PKU-MEA). The organizers also presented awards for the Top 10 Entrepreneurs, the Top 10 Tax Payers and the Top 10 Hidden Champions.

"Zhang Ruimin… brought a small-sized collective enterprise with a deficit over RMB 1 million (approx. U.S. $ 125,000) into the 4th white goods manufacturer of the world," the award jury commented. "His management patterns, i.e. OEC, market chain, individual-goal combination, etc., have been praised by prestigious international business schools like Harvard Business School. Zhang Ruimin and his enterprise have become a benchmark for enterprises from China and even the rest of Asia."
