U.S. Q1 Manufacturing Productivity Revised Down

U.S. overall productivity data for the first quarter of 2006 was revised upwards from May 4 preliminary estimates to:
3.9 percent in the business sector
3.7 percent in the nonfarm business sector
The data comes from the Bureau of Labor Statistics of the U.S. Department of Labor. Productivity data is measured by output per hour of all persons.
Revised first-quarter manufacturing productivity changes were revised down from May 4 estimates to:
3.8 percent in manufacturing
3.5 percent in durable goods manufacturing
3.7 percent in nondurable goods manufacturing
The Labor Bureau said output and hours in manufacturing, which includes about 13 percent of U.S. business-sector employment, tends to vary more from quarter to quarter than data for the aggregate business and nonfarm business sectors.
