The Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM) honored several industry leaders during its Annual Member Meeting at the Ocean Reef Club Hotel in Key Largo, Florida, U.S.

Home Appliance Industry Leadership (HAIL) Award
John R. Arganbright, vice president, Panasonic Home Appliance Sales, Panasonic Home Appliances Company of America, is a member of the AHAM board of directors and was recently elected to a second term as chair of the Floor Care Division. Arganbright's HAIL Award recognized his strong direction and leadership during AHAM's merger with the Vacuum Cleaner Manufacturers Association in 2003.
Thomas F. Catania, vice president, Government Relations, Whirlpool Corporation and Earl F. Jones, senior counsel, GE Consumer & Industrial were recognized with HAIL Awards for their leadership during AHAM's relocation to Washington, D.C. 7 years ago and for their continued involvement in AHAM. Earl Jones is a former AHAM board chair and chair of the Major Appliance Division. He serves on AHAM's board of directors. Tom Catania chairs the Major Appliance Government Relations Council, and led the council's efforts in support of the recently enacted manufacturers' tax credit for super efficient appliances
The AHAM Chairman's Award recognizes significant contributions to the association by non-member individuals.
Dana Chase Jr., chairman, Dana Chase Publications, received the Chairman's Award in recognition of his longstanding and significant supporter of the appliance industry and AHAM, including his many years as the driving force behind APPLIANCE magazine.
Mark W. Paquette, certification programs manager, Intertek ETL SEMKO, Mark Paquette was recognized for involvement in providing certification services on AHAM products for over 40 years. Paquette is a global expert in testing air-conditioning products.
Distinguished Service Award
The AHAM Distinguished Service Award recognizes significant contributions by virtue of longevity and quality of service to AHAM and the home appliance industry. Recipients for 2006 were:

Wayne M. Myrick, national manager, Product Safety, Sharp Electronics Corporation
Lawrence T. Albert, technical manager, Black & Decker (U.S.) Inc.
Glenn E. Goetz, product compliance manager, Whirlpool Corporation
Gregory P. Hopkins, customer relations manager, Whirlpool Canada LP
Allen L. Wilkins, former chief operations officer, Sub Zero Freezer Company, Inc.
