EKL Exports to SAARC Countries

India's EKL Appliances (formerly known as Electrolux Kelvinator) will begin shipping refrigerators and washing machines to other South Asian Association of Regional Cooperation (SAARC) countries in June. A Sify report says the shipments will come from the EKL plant in Shahjahanpur. The company is also preparing to increase distribution of of washers, microwaves, refrigerators, dishwashers, and robotic vacuum cleaners from Electrolux manufacturing plants worldwide.

There are seven countries in SAARC: Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. The SAARC secretariat is based in Islamabad, Pakistan.

The Sify report says EKL expects to ship 100,000 refrigerators, 25,000 washing machines, and 10,000 air-conditioners to Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, as well as send 25,000 frost-free refrigerators to West Asian markets. The company also has hopes of becoming a global OEM supplier to Electrolux.
