Whirlpool Corporation (Benton Harbor, Michigan, U.S.) filed a U.S. $2 million lawsuit in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, U.S. court seeking to recover losses from the roof collapse of its large Dickinson Township warehouse in Feb. 6, 2004, according to the local Patriot-News. There were no injuries as a result of the collapse, but it did result in lost production and damage inside the warehouse.

The roof collapsed after heavy snow and rainfall, and Whirlpool blames it on defects in the design and construction of the warehouse, which was built in 1998. The suit's defendants are the designers and builders of the warehouse, Pizzuti Equities Inc. and Exxcel Contract Management Inc., as well as the building maintenance company, Penske Logistics Inc. The defendants have asked the court to dismiss the lawsuit.
