Oliso Iron Wins Design Award Mar 8, 2006

The Oliso(TM) iron with "lifters" won Best in Category at the annual Housewares Designs Award in New York City on Jan. 31. The iron will officially debut at the International Home & Housewares Show next week in Chicago.

The iron's patented Auto-Lift System(TM) is said to virtually eliminate scorching, tipping, accidental burns, and wrist strain that can occur with some other irons. When users touch the iron's smart handle, the lifters disappear into the soleplate and lower the iron. When the user lets go, the lifters emerge and raise the iron above the fabric. The lifters let the iron safely remain in a tip-resistant, horizontal position at all times to deliver easier ironing.

Out of more than 250 entries and 65 finalists, the Oliso iron earned the Design Award for Best in Personal Care, Health Care & Garment Care Electrics. The competition is sponsored by HomeWorld Business and the International Housewares Association and was judged on appropriate aesthetics, innovative materials and technology, user benefits, and market response.

The Oliso iron is the first product from Oliso, Inc. (San Francisco, California, U.S.).

The International Home & Housewares Show takes place March 12-14 at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois, U.S.
