Toshiba's Digital Products Division (DPD), a division of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., introduced the Satellite(R) M100 Series notebooks, its first Satellite products incorporating the Intel(R) Core(TM) Duo and Intel Core Solo processors for enhanced performance and mobility.

The processors are part of the latest Intel Centrino(R) Mobile Technology that reduces power consumption while boosting overall performance. Other major Intel Centrino Mobile Technology components have been updated in the new platform, including the Mobile Intel 945 Express chipset and the Intel PRO/Wireless 3945 ABG network connection.

Starting at 5.2 pounds, the notebook also includes: a 14.1-inch WXGA diagonal display with optional TruBrite(TM) technology; CD-RW/DVD-ROM or DVD SuperMulti Double Layer drive that reads and writes in up to 11 formats and can nearly double a recordable DVD's storage capacity in either DVD+R or DVD-R double layer formats; 40GB to 120GB 5400 rpm hard drive storage for faster access to stored files; 256MB to 2048MB memory; and Express Media Player that lets users instantly access DVDs or CDs with the push of a button without having to boot the Microsoft(R) Windows(R) operating system.

A 5-in-1 bridge media adapter for quick downloads of files comes standard. Consumers also have their choice of integrated graphics with an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950, or discrete graphics with the ATI Mobility RADEON(R) X1300 with 64MB memory or ATI Mobility RADEON X1400 with 128MB memory. Microsoft Windows XP Home operating system is standard while customers can upgrade to Microsoft Windows XP Professional.
