Egg & Muffin Toaster Takes Top Sales Spot Feb 23, 2006

Twelve weeks after its retail launch in the U.S., the Egg & Muffin Toaster(TM) from Back to Basics held the top position in the "toaster" category as reported by research firm NPD Group. NPD's household point-of-sale tracking data said the multi-function appliance was the top selling product in the category in the fourth quarter of 2005, based on percentage of unit sales for all toasters sold. NPD also said the appliance had a 20-percent share of all units sold the week of Christmas.

The appliance, launched in September 2005, is designed to prepare a breakfast sandwich by simultaneously steam-poaching an egg and browning toast in about 4 minutes. A total of about 500,000 units have been sold to-date, according to Back to Basics.

The Egg & Muffin Toaster model TEM500 also provides the ability to hard-boil up to four eggs at once. Back to Basics (Bluffdale, Utah, U.S.) plans additional models in 2006.
