The Unitary Products Group of York introduced the York(R) [mc]2 MicroChannel MiniCube 13 SEER Air Conditioner, said to be the smallest 13 SEER product in the industry. The unit is offered in one-ton to three-ton sizes and is said to be ideal for multi-family applications or other applications in which cooling is essential and space is limited.

The air-conditioner uses an aluminum tube coil and micro channel technology to provide higher efficiency without a corresponding increase in coil surface area. This technology significantly reduces the size of the unit when compared to traditional 13 SEER products and is said to use far less refrigerant. As a result, when moving from 10 to 13 SEER efficiency, the unit's footprint remains 21-3/4-inches-square. Unit height varies from 22-1/2 inches to 30-3/4 inches, depending on its capacity.

A polymer mesh and a coated steel coil guard protect the unit's coils from damage, while a high-pressure relief valve and a temperature sensor protect the compressor from undesirable operating conditions. Top discharge blows warm air up and away from the structure and surrounding landscape and helps minimize operating noise. A rigid top panel, cushioned compressor mounts and rippled condenser coil fins are designed to further reduce the operating sound level.

The unit is designed with fully exposed refrigerant connections and a single panel covering the electrical controls for easy servicing. Secured, re-usable service valves, on both the liquid and vapor sweat connections, make evacuating and charging easy, according to the producer.

The unit's painted cabinet is made of pre-treated, flat galvanized steel, designed to resist corrosion and rust creep. Special primer formulas and a matted champagne finish help ensure less fading when the unit is exposed to sunlight.

York is a brand of the Unitary Products Group of York - a Johnson Controls Company, headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, U.S.
