Gaggenau, a maker of restaurant-grade cooking and built-in appliances, has received a GOOD DESIGN™ award from the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design for its CM 200 coffee machine.
The first small appliance product introduction for the company, Gaggenau’s CM 200 coffee machine was first produced in January 2005 in Europe, and will be available throughout the U.S. in January 2006.
The brushed stainless steel, 24-inch wide, fully automatic CM 200 integrates elegantly into any style of kitchen cabinetry, according to the company. Due to the unique conical grinding gear of hardened steel, paired with the Aroma Whirl(TM) brewing technique, the drip grind is spun during the brewing process so that water reaches each and every coffee granule, ensuring distinctively flavorful ground coffee every time.
Gaggenau says the adjustable brewing chamber offers six levels of coffee grind quality -- from smooth to super strong. Water pipes are rinsed after each cycle to ensure the unit is 100 percent hygienic and delivers the most authentic coffee aroma every time. This unit can brew espresso, cappuccino, latte macchiato, regular coffee, and foam milk and users can tailor the strength of coffee with three different coffee temperature settings and a selection of 12 water volumes. The machine also provides two separate chambers for two different types of coffee, such as caffeinated or decaffeinated.
The GOOD DESIGN competition was founded in 1950 and the CM 200 coffee machine will be displayed at The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design and will permanently enter the collection.
