Samsung Files Patent Violation Case Against Matsushita Dec 7, 2005

Samsung SDI Co. said it has brought a patent violation lawsuit against Japan's Matsushita Electric and its subsidiary Panasonic in a U.S. federal court.

"We filed a case against Matsushita and Panasonic over their violation of our patents on key PDP manufacturing technology," Samsung said.

The legal action came after a year of negotiations failed to resolve the dispute.

Samsung said it brought the case to a U.S. court because the U.S. is the world's largest market for digital TVs and a third country is expected to make a fair ruling on the issue. (Forbes.com, AFX)
