Mexico’s President Vicente Fox visited the facilities of plastic injection molder and contract manufacturer Moll Mexico (Dallas, Texas, U.S.) on November 15. President Fox visited the newly constructed plant in Ramos Arizpe, Coahuila, Mexico and was hosted by Moll CEO and President Paul Adkins, where the president participated plant-opening ceremonies such as ribbon-cutting, initiation of production and start-up of the press. President Fox removed the first part, and autographed the production machine, which was also signed by Adkins and Coahuila Governor Enrique Martinez y Martinez.

Fox was introduced by Governor Martinez y Martinez and accompanied by Ernesto Saro, Mayor of Ramos Arizpe; Ignacio Diego, Secretary of Planning and Development for Saltillo, Coahuila; and other officials. Fox shared welcoming comments with the crowd of about 150 customers, suppliers, employees, friends, and press representatives. Fox acknowledged the importance of joint U.S.-Latin American collaboration focusing on success in the face of tough Asian and global manufacturing competition.

The Ramos facility is the third site for Moll Mexico, S. de R.L. de C.V., a Mexican company owned by Moll Holdings, a U.S. entity that also owns Moll Industries, Inc. The Ramos plant extends capabilities and supplements current production of plants in Monterrey and Empalme, Sonora. Capital investments are estimated to top $13 million for infrastructure, equipment and construction of the 135,000 square foot facility. Full-scale operations are slated to begin in February 2006 on around 35 presses ranging in tonnage from 100 to 1,650, with space available for up to 50 presses.

Molding, secondary processing and assembly will be mainly for the appliance industry, with some electronics and other consumer products also manufactured.
