Electrolux plans to re-examine the decision to close the AEG plant in Nuremberg, Germany, according to comments from Electrolux European production manager Horst Winkler to Die Welt newspaper. He told the paper the company is searching for a way to avoid total closure of the site, and indicated that there may be avenues of cost-cutting unrelated to labor that have not been exhausted. He would not estimate how many of the more than 1,700 employees would keep their jobs. The plant makes dishwashers and laundry appliances, mostly sold under the AEG brand name.
