Arçelik Manufactures First Domestic Dryer in Turkey Nov 1, 2005

Turkish appliance maker Arçelik A.S., announced it has manufactured the first domestic dryer of Turkey. The company said it expects to make 200,000 dryers in the first year of production, of which 170,000 will be exported with the remaining 30,000 to be sold in Turkey.

According to Arçelik, the dryer won the Plus X Award 2005 in the innovation category with the lowest energy consumption level in Europe and an A-class energy performance.

Arçelik's General Manager Gündüz Özdemir said the company's aim was to convert a luxury segment product like the dryer into a product that could easily be purchased.

Oguzhan Öztürk, Arçelik's product director for Washing Machines, said that the dryer, which is widely used in Europe, has three different models: stacked, with condenser and with natural gas.

Öztürk stated that the stacked model which was the most economical model blowing the wet air out through the stack, and added that the model with condenser, which works on the principle of collecting the wet air in a container, would be launched in February 2006.
Additionally, Öztürk said the company planned to manufacture the natural gas dryer in the future.
