Statistics from China's customs agency show Haier was the No. 1 exported Chinese color TV brand during the first 9 months of 2005. Haier exported U.S. $1.008 billion worth of TVs during the period, which exceeds the $1.003 billion worth of TVs exported during all of 2004.
Haier's export growth was substantial across its products:
microwave oven exports grew 155 percent
TV exports grew 87 percent
washing machine exports grew 65 percent
air-conditioner exports grew 45 percent
Haier's traditionally strong export markets, the U.S. and Europe, show steady growth. New markets in South Asia and Middle East each grew at more than 100 percent.
Haier Ranks First In Seven Appliance Categories
The 2005 China Consumer Goods Survey results show Haier ranking first in seven home appliance categories:
refrigerators
air-conditioners
washing machines
televisions
water heaters
range hoods
gas burners
The survey was conducted by the China Quality Association, China National Institute of Standardization and Chinese Enterprise Research Center, Tsinghua University.
