Jarden Donates to American Red Cross Hurricane Relief Oct 4, 2005

Small appliance maker Jarden Corporation announced that it, the company's employees and the Jarden Consumer Solutions Community Fund have combined to provide an immediate cash donation of more than U.S. $165,000 to the South Central Mississippi, U.S. and Pine Belt Chapters of the American Red Cross.

The donation, which will be divided between the two chapters, is being directed to the agencies as they continue to support Hurricane Katrina disaster relief efforts in communities where Jarden employees live and work.

"The Sunbeam and Oster businesses have been a fixture in Mississippi for nearly 50 years, so when these communities were affected by Hurricane Katrina, we felt the strong desire to give back," Martin E. Franklin, Jarden Corporation chairman and CEO, said. "The American Red Cross is a world-class organization, and we appreciate the hard work its staff and volunteers are doing to bring relief to those in need."

During the month of September, Jarden Corporation asked its domestic workforce to contribute to the American Red Cross via a one-time payroll deduction, which the Company matched dollar-for-dollar. In addition, The Jarden Consumer Solutions Community Fund donated $50,000.
