Samsung Indian Phone Plant Planned Sep 15, 2005

Samsung Electronics will move forward with construction of an Indian mobile phone plant, according to a Korea Times report by Kim Sung-jin. Samsung confirmed the plan, but would not confirm that the plant is slated for Noida or Mumbai, both near the capital city of New Delhi. If Samsung proceeds with a reported plan to rent an existing factory, the facility may be operational as early as the end of this year. The Korea Times report says Samsung is considering establishing a separate business entity in India for the mobile phone operation.
