Best Buy Matches Hurricane Relief Donations Sep 8, 2005

Appliance and consumer electronics retailer Best Buy has expanded its matching program for customer donations to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund in support of victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Since launching the match program Sept. 1, 2005, Best Buy customers donated nearly U.S. $1 million in 6 days through the registers at more than 690 Best Buy throughout the U.S.

Best Buy has since matched that donation, contributing a total $2 million toward the relief efforts.

The retailer said donations will be accepted through Sept. 30, 2005. The Best Buy Children's Foundation will match donations up to $2 million.
