Hurricane Katrina caused extensive flooding at two DuPont facilities in Mississippi, U.S. The titanium dioxide plant at DeLisle and the First Chemical Corporation aniline plant at Pascagoula are underwater, and DuPont today declared "force majeure" for both businesses. Based on its preliminary damage assessment, it is not yet known when restart will occur. DuPont said it is working closely with customers to lessen the impact on their business.

DuPont, based in Wilmington, Delaware, U.S., said its plants in Pontchartrain, Louisiana, Burnside, Louisiana, and Mobile, Alabama, were not as severely impacted by the storm. The company is assessing the facilities relative to restarting the operations.
