GE Appliances today launched a new bilingual edition of its GE Profile Harmony Clothes Care System with the CleanSpeak(TM) system, which enables washer-to-dryer communication. The system now offers English and Spanish options on the LCD washer and dryer touch screens.

"GE is proactively responding to changing U.S. demographics," said Jennifer Mintman, general manager - Clothes Care and Dishwasher, GE Consumer & Industrial (Louisville, Kentucky, U.S.). "According to the 2002 Census, 13.3 percent of the U.S. population was Hispanic."

Other touch screen upgrades include a new Washer Recommended Cycle for quick recall of settings for the just-washed load.

The Harmony system is also designed to have the largest capacity washer and fastest premium dryer on the market. A new see-through HydroView(TM) tempered glass lid allows consumers to view clothes during cleaning without opening the lid or stopping the wash cycle.

The washer features the new HydroHeater(TM) internal water heater, which increases water temperature to improve wash performance. Stain Inspector(TM), said to be the most comprehensive stain-removal system on the market, was also made "smarter", and the washer now offers 80 common stain problem selections to optimize wash cycles based on stain type, fabric and garment color.
