China's electronics retailer, Gome Appliances, has been China's largest home appliances retailer for 5 consecutive years, with its sales volume soaring 32 percent year on year to 19.6 billion yuan (approx. U.S. $2.4 billion) in the first half of this year.
The Ministry of Commerce made the announcement when releasing the updated list of China's top 30 commercial chain stores recently, the Beijing-based Economic Information Daily reported.
According to the list, in the first half of the year, Gome ranked second in terms of sales volume among all commercial chain stores and first among electronics retailers.
During the first half of this year, Gome made great efforts to expand its business and open more outlets across the country. It has now opened 330 outlets in 88 cities of the country, and the figure is expected to reach 500 at the end of the year, according to the newspaper. (Xinhuanet, China View)
