Appliance retailer Lowe's Companies, Inc. announced plans to expand its regional distribution center (RDC) located in Statesville, NC, U.S. The expansion represents a U.S. $12-million dollar investment for Lowe's and will create 50 new jobs. The regional distribution center currently employs approximately 800 people.
Lowe's 1.15-million-sq-ft Statesville regional distribution center will expand by 324,000 sq ft and will allow the center to handle additional inventory, including major appliances. Construction is underway and is expected be completed by spring 2006.
The Statesville regional distribution center supplies products to approximately 140 Lowe's stores in North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Alabama, Mississippi, Missouri, and Virginia in the U.S. Lowe's distribution network throughout the U.S. includes 11 regional distribution centers.
"Lowe's Statesville distribution center has played a key role in the past 9 years in getting our customers the products they want, when they want them, at everyday low prices," said Mike Mabry, Lowe's executive vice president of Logistics and Distribution. "Because of the great workforce in the Statesville area, we're pleased to be able to create more jobs and enhance our investment in the state."
