U.S. General Colin L. Powell will be the keynote speaker at the opening ceremonies of the 2006 International Builders' Show (IBS) in Orlando, FL, U.S. to take place Jan. 11-14, 2006.
"We are very honored to have Colin Powell as the keynote speaker for the 2006 International Builders' Show," said Dave Wilson, president of the National Association of Home Builders, which sponsors IBS. "General Powell is a great leader and a great American, and NAHB's members are eagerly looking forward to his presentation during the grand opening ceremonies of the IBS."
General Powell became the 65th U.S. Secretary of State in January of 2001. Previously, he had served in the United States Army for 35 years, rising to the rank of Four-Star General and serving as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff from 1989 to 1993. Before becoming Secretary of State, he also served as a key aide to the Secretary of Defense and as National Security Advisor to President Reagan.
The 2006 IBS will feature 200 educational sessions, while an estimated 1,600 exhibitors display products and services.
