Royal Appliance Mfg. Co. announced the launch of a new brand of vacuum cleaners for the U.S. market. The Vax(R) bagless uprights, models X3 and X5, are part of the first new vacuum cleaner brand to be introduced in the U.S. in almost 3 years. Best Buy will be the exclusive retailer. and the units will appear in stores nationwide beginning September 2005.

"We are proud to partner with Best Buy to bring the Vax brand of vacuum cleaners to the U.S. market," said Paul R. D'Aloia, president of Royal Appliance. "Vax is a well-known name in Europe and Australia with an excellent reputation for high performance, cutting-edge products that are designed for user comfort. We have used the extensive consumer research done in the UK and USA to come up with a line of vacuums designed with the comfort and well-being of the consumer in mind."

An automatic cord rewind operated by a foot switch allows all 27 ft of the power cord to retract into the upright vacuum. A 12-A two-motor system with separate brush roller motor is designed to optimize cleaning performance with less wear on carpets. A separate motor allows the brush roll to be shut off, allowing for movement from carpet to bare floor with the flip of a switch for scratchless bare floor cleaning.

For effortless control, the power on/off and brush roll shut-off switches are located in the comfort grip handle . The ready-to-use front-mounted cleaning wand with extendable hidden stretch hose gives more than 11 ft of reach, allowing a user to transition from vacuuming the floors to cleaning the crevices in the ceiling. Vax also offers a lifetime washable HEPA filter, which reportedly traps 100 percent of pollen and ragweed. The bottom release dirt cup allows for dirt removal by pushing a button. The dirt empties from the bottom, reducing interaction with the dirt.

In addition to the standard accessories, the X5 includes the Vax Max System complete with a rotating Turbo Tool, Flex-n-Hold Nozzle and replaceable scented exhaust chamber filters available in an assortment of fragrances. The Turbo Tool is an air-powered hand brush for removing pet hair and lint from upholstery or stairs. The Flex-n-Hold Nozzle is a shapeable hose ideal for accessing places like ceiling fans, cabinet tops, or the top of the refrigerator.
