York Recognized by EPA Jun 20, 2005

HVAC equipment maker International Corp. was a recent winner of a 2005 Climate Protection Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for its energy-saving chiller technology. York was also recognized as an HVAC partner by McDonald’s Corporation, after McDonald’s won a Climate Protection Award for its leadership, along with the Coca-Cola Co. and Unilever, in the area of alternative refrigerants.

Shelly Douglass, York national account sales manager for McDonald’s, joined McDonald's representatives at the Washington, D.C. awards ceremony in early May. The recognition was based on York’s strategic involvement in the 2004 Refrigerants, Naturally conference in Brussels, where York presented ideas on HFC-free cooling. Currently, York International - Europe is developing a prototype rooftop unit incorporating CO2 as the refrigerant for testing at McDonald's restaurant sites.

"As a world leader in providing heating, cooling, and refrigeration solutions, York has insights into solving some of the most difficult applications," Ms. Douglass said. "We were honored to be invited by McDonald’s to address the Brussels conference. We are delighted at the recognition of McDonald’s by the EPA. And, we’re prepared to continue to work with McDonald’s to determine the best refrigerant solutions."
