On Wednesday, June 15, 2005, Lisa Bonnema, Editor of APPLIANCE magazine, accepted the Midwest Regional Gold Award for the Signed Editorial Category in the 27th Annual Awards Competition of the American Society of Business Publication Editors (ASBPE). ASBPE’s competition recognizes the hard work and commitment of business/professional magazines and Web editors and designers.
ASBPE's award is a prestigious acknowledgment that a publication’s work is at the top of its profession and that the publication has met high standards of excellence. In recent years, the number of entries for this competition has risen dramatically. This has made the ASBPE’s awards program even more significant.
The July 2004 APPLIANCE editorial, "Designing Women?", won the Gold Award for successfully discussing the issue of women engineers and designers in the appliance industry. The editorial discusses the importance of women engineers to the industry and then investigates why a void exists in today’s modern -- and supposedly equal -- society. Lisa includes all sides of a very complex issue -- from inequality in today’s workplace to learned behavior at the educational level. To read a copy of the article, click here.
APPLIANCE has previously won two ASBPE awards. In 2003, Dana Chase, Jr. won the Lifetime Achievement Award. In 2001, the magazine receieved a Graphics Excellence Gold Award for its September 2000 cover photo.
APPLIANCE has been serving the consumer, commercial, business, and medical appliance industry for more than 60 years and currently has a circulation of 34,000 in 110 countries. The editorial scope provides in-depth coverage of trends, new technology, and the critical issues impacting the appliance industry.
