Robert Bosch Tool Recalls Circular Saws May 19, 2005

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Robert Bosch Tool Corp. of Mount Prospect, IL, U.S. has recalled 69,000 BOSCH circular saws.

Consumers were advised to stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. The lower blade guard can malfunction, creating a risk of injury as severe as amputation. The manufacturer has received three reports of malfunctioning lower guards, including one amputation.

The affected circular saws include the BOSCH CS10, CS20 and CS20-XC models, which can be identified on the product nameplate mounted on the top of the motor housing. The circular saw uses a 7ð-inch blade and has a blue handle and motor enclosure and a metal guarding system.

The recalled products were manufactured in the U.S. and sold at Home Depot, Lowe's, and Menards stores, as well as independent hardware retailers and industrial distributors, from February 2004 through April 2005 for between U.S. $120 and $150.
