York Receives EPA 2005 Climate Protection Award May 17, 2005

HVAC&R company York International announced that it has received a 2005 Climate Protection Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

York was recognized in an award presentation May 4, 2005 in Washington, D.C., U.S. for its pioneering work and ongoing development of energy-saving technologies applied to chillers. The company's technology is said to reduce chiller energy consumption by 15- to 25-percent annually.

According to United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), it is widely recognized that the indirect effect of electricity consumption is the largest contributor to greenhouse gas emissions from chillers. Average annual energy savings of 20 percent mean a significant reduction in CO2 emissions, resulting in substantial climate protection.
