Best Buy Names Strategy and International Executive VP May 2, 2005

Appliance and consumer electronics retailer Best Buy Co., Inc. has promoted Kal Patel to executive vice president, Strategy and International, effective on May 1, 2005.

In his expanded role, Mr. Patel is responsible for fostering innovation across all levels of the company, as well as exploring growth opportunities outside of North America. He continues to report to Allen Lenzmeier, vice chairman of Best Buy.

Mr. Patel joined Best Buy in 2003 as vice president of Strategy and was promoted to senior vice president of Strategy and International in 2004. He previously was a senior partner at Strategos, one of the leading strategy and innovation consulting firms in North America and Europe.

Mr. Patel also worked on major strategy and innovation programs that helped to build sustainable capabilities and deliver results for clients such as Morgan Stanley, Roche Diagnostics, Whirlpool, Shell, and others.
