South Korea-based Samsung Electronics Co Ltd will not raise prices of thin-film-transistor liquid crystal display panels, even though its peers in Taiwan are eager to do so, the Commercial Times reported, citing a senior company official. Sang Wan Lee, president of the Korean company's LCD business, made the comment during a recent visit to buyers on the island, the report said.

Taiwan's panel makers can do nothing about this strategy of one of the world's largest TFT-LCD manufacturers just when they are planning to raise further their prices for 17-in panels used on LCD monitors, it added. (AFX-Asia via COMTEX, Forbes)
