Whirlpool India to Expand Presence with Product Launches Apr 8, 2005

Appliance maker Whirlpool India Ltd announced plans to achieve a leadership position in several product categories and says it will expand its presence with refrigerators, washing machines, and air-conditioners.

The company said it aims to rate among the top two players in the air-conditioner and microwave oven categories within the next few years. In addition, the company said it would be sourcing its new range of air-conditioners from Gree of China.

"We have tied up with Gree, the second largest air-conditioner manufacturer in the world, which also supplies to markets in North America and Latin America," Arvind Uppal, managing director of Whirlpool India, said. "We will source the air-conditioners from the plant in Southern China."

Among the new product launches, the company recently introduced the 180-lt Genius refrigerator and the 6th Sense Magicool air-conditioner. (Business Line)
