Tatung will invest U.S. $34 million set up a white goods appliance plant near Ho Chi Minh city, Vietnam. The facility will be Tatung's production base for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) market.
The new plant is scheduled to begin mass production of home appliances in early 2006, with product lines to be expanded to include other information technology (IT) and heavy electrical machinery products.
W.S. Lin, the firm's president, said that the annual revenue of the Vietnam plant is expected to soon reach $100 million and jump to $1 billion within next 5 to 7 years. (CENS)
