Japanese Appliance Retail Association to Dissolve Mar 21, 2005

The Nippon Electric Big-Stores Association (NEBA), a Japanese group of mass-market home appliance retailers, has decided to dissolve itself in August due to declining membership, association officials said.

NEBA was founded by 79 companies in 1972 and has compiled data on home appliance sales at large retailers. In its prime, the association had as many as 93 members whose combined sales reached nearly 3 trillion yen (approx. U.S. $28.6 billion). (Kyodo News)
