Kelon to Expand Production of Small Appliances Feb 8, 2005

Guangdong Kelon Electric Holdings Company Limited is set to expand its annual output value of small home appliances to 10 billion yuan (approx. U.S. $1.2 billion) in the next 3 years.

Kelon announced this at its 2005 new products promotion Fair in Shunde of South China's Guangdong province.

The company has put the Shunde base into production, which will produce electric fans, electric cookers, induction cookers, gas-fired kitchen ranges, and range hoods, with an annual production capacity of 5 million units and predicted annual output value of 600 million yuan (approx. $72.5 million).

The workshop construction has been completed, and the production line is being installed. The Shunde facility is expected to go into production in April. The construction of another base, located in Yangzhou and covering 200,000 sq m, has also been launched.

It is expected that the output value of Kelon small home appliance production would reach 60 billion yuan (approx. $7.2 billion) in the first half of 2005, the Shunde base and the Zhuhai base are in full production. After the company's three planned projects are completed, the total output value of these bases would total 10 billion yuan. (XIC)
