Dacor, a maker of high-end kitchen appliances and accessories, announced the launch of a year-long celebration to mark its 40th year in the multi-billion dollar appliance industry.
The company said the coming year will be full of festivities to mark the occasion. "Celebrating 40 Years" will be a theme line across all Dacor advertising, promotion, and public relations activity, as well as a focal point of Dacor's exhibition at the annual Kitchen and Bath Industry Show (K/BIS) in Las Vegas, NV, U.S. in May 2005.
Furthermore, as a symbol of the industry's evolution and its role as an innovator, the appliance maker said it will bring to market several new products this year, including a new Epicure wall oven line first previewed at K/BIS in 2004. The new wall ovens are said to offer up to 33 percent more useable cooking space, a larger observation window, improved cleanability, and a digitally driven "Discovery" controller, a new feature pioneered at Dacor that reportedly controls temperature and cooking settings more precisely and efficiently.
The company is celebrating its milestone, as well as three generations of Joseph family ownership. Stan Joseph launched the company in 1965 with a small loan from a friend. Under the leadership of Mike Joseph, chairman, president, and CEO, the company is now approaching revenues of U.S. $200 million.
In kicking off the 2005 festivities, CEO Mike Joseph shared: "You wouldn't think that anyone could really love and live to build ranges, cooktops, or wall ovens. At Dacor, we do. For the past 40 years, more than 550 men and women have put a human touch onto every knob, burner, and oven cell. It is gratifying to move into our fifth decade of providing value to our customers, and know that they continue to appreciate our commitment to performance, safety, innovation and, most importantly, trust."
Dacor claims many firsts during its existence, including 36-in and 52-in outdoor grills; the world's first patented infrared ceramic gas broiler inside an electric pure convection™ self-cleaning oven; all gas convection 30-in range with self-cleaning oven; dual-fuel gas and electric cooktop cooking capability; 30-in double wall, pure convection oven; six-burner modular cooking system; 30-in pure convection and self-cleaning wall oven for wall or under counter installations; and the first to introduce halogen lights into an outdoor grill to enable twilight and nighttime grilling.
