Siemens Energy & Automation, Inc. announced the completion of the sale of its electronic manufacturing center business located in Johnson City, TN, U.S. and South Lebanon, OH, U.S. to EPIC Technologies, LLC. Terms of the sale will not be disclosed by either company.

The Tennessee facility, which Siemens purchased in 1991 from Texas Instruments, employs approximately 400 people. The Ohio operations were purchased from Eaton Corporation in 2000 and employs approximately 100 employees. All current Siemens employees will transfer their employment to EPIC on February 1, 2005 under existing management.

Siemens had earlier announced its intention to spin-off these operations. The facilities have been used by Siemens to manufacture custom electronic circuit boards and other electronic devices for a wide variety of customers and industries. EPIC will continue contract manufacturing at the facilities and will assume responsibility for Siemens' current orders. The sale of EMC will not affect remaining Siemens operations in North Johnson City or the Motion Control Systems activities of Siemens located in the South Lebanon facility.

"We set out to find a strategic buyer who could not only grow the electronics contract manufacturing business but also become a strategic partner to Siemens," according to Aubert Martin, CEO of Siemens Energy & Automation, Inc. "We found both these qualities in EPIC Technologies. We're working closely together with EPIC to ensure a seamless transition for employees, customers, and suppliers."
