Samsung Names U.S. Consumer Electronics President Jan 20, 2005

Samsung announced that it has named Jung Soo Shin president and general manager of the Digital Consumer Electronics Division (CED) of Samsung Electronics America, Inc.

In his new role, Mr. Shin will be responsible for overseeing all product sales, marketing, and operational activities for the U.S. marketplace in the Visual Display, Home Appliance, Digital Audio, Digital Video, and Set-Top Box categories.

"With more than two decades of experience and success at Samsung, Mr. Shin is a proven global leader with a consistent record of achievement in driving operational excellence," states D.J. Oh, president and CEO of Samsung Electronics America, Inc. "We believe his bold leadership, global vision and commitment to the organization will enable the Consumer Electronics Division to meet our aggressive goals for the coming years here in the U.S. market as he assumes the duties of his new position"

Mr. Shin is a 21-year veteran with the company and was previously the senior vice president and general manager for CED.

Prior to Mr. Shin's tenure in the U.S., he served as the president and CEO of Samsung Electronics Australia where he restructured the organization and doubled revenue within three years. Previously, Mr. Shin was president and CEO of Samsung Electronics Benelux and Samsung Electronics Germany.
