LG Electronics announced the appointment of Teddy Hwang, a 24-year LG-veteran, as its new president of Digital Appliances for its U.S. operations.

Under his leadership, Mr. Hwang will be responsible for all home appliance branding, marketing, sales, and distribution operations, working out of the company's New Jersey, U.S. headquarters.

"Mr. Hwang is a dynamic leader and talented executive who brings with him extensive experience in the appliance industry, with an exceptionally strong branding and communications skills focusing on the customer," said Michael Ahn, president and CEO, LG Electronics USA, Inc. (LGEUS). "His growth management skills, coupled with a proven record of successfully executing new product and technology introductions, as well as his background with the LG brand, make him the ideal candidate for this position. I believe that he will take LG's leadership in home appliances to the next level."

Most recently, Mr. Hwang served as president of the OEM division within Digital Appliances at LGEUS, based in Chicago, IL, U.S., a position he held since 1999. In his new position, Mr. Hwang succeeds Simon Kang, who is returning to Korea for a new global assignment in January 2005.

"I am very excited about my new role and responsibilities, and quite honored to be chosen to lead such a talented group and growing division," Mr. Hwang said. "There are enormous opportunities to better serve our customers, continue to expand presence and product portfolio, increase revenue, and in turn, become a leader in the appliance industry."

During his 24-year tenure with the company, Mr. Hwang held various senior executive positions, with an emphasis on sales, including overseeing New Global Business Development and Overseas Investment Strategy for LG Electronics corporate headquarters in Seoul, Korea.

He received his bachelor's of arts degree in French from Yonsei University in Seoul, Korea.
