Appliance maker Miele is introducing two new gas cooktops at the 2005 International Builders' Show to be held in Orlando, FL, U.S., Jan. 13-16, 2005.

The new KM360G four-burner gas cooktop is said to be compact in its design and flexible in its installation. Made from high-grade stainless steel, the unit features one 3,400 BTU auxiliary burner, two 6,000 BTU normal burners, and one 10,200 BTU fast burner.

The KM360 features a capillary valve system with a special igniter/thermocouple feature that is said to automatically re-ignites the flame should it be blown out for any reason. If re-ignition is not possible, given the lack of electricity, the capillary tube senses this and immediately shuts down the supply of gas providing the ultimate in safe operation, Miele said.

The new KM391G five-burner gas cooktop features one 5,000 BTU auxiliary/simmer burner, two 6,000 BTU normal burners, one 9,500 BTU high-speed burner, and one 15,300 BTU super burner.

"The KM391G ignition system is totally unique and offers superior usability and safety for consumers," said Paul McCormack, senior marketing manager for Miele. "Miele's advanced ignition system contains a small voltage generator that actually creates an electrical charge to reignite the burner should be electrical power source be interrupted -- for example, during a power outage."

Both models are available for LP or natural gas connections and have completely sealed burners that allow for easy cleaning and simple maintenance. The company says the cooktops can be installed anywhere in the kitchen -- built into an island, peninsula or along the wall, with central knob controls that promote ease of use and safe operation.
