Appliance maker Miele has teamed up with Nespresso, a subsidiary of Nestle S.A., to introduce a built-in capsule coffee system. At the push of a button, the Miele CVA 2000 series makes a wide variety of caffeinated or decaffeinated coffee, espresso, cappuccino, or latte.

"Miele and Nespresso engineers have worked intensively together to deliver a sophisticated, yet simple coffee system," said Matthew Kueny, senior product development manager for Miele, Inc. "Our focus was to deliver a broad assortment of coffee blends at the push of a single button, using a system so easy, fast, and clean that anyone can make a perfect cup of coffee. We believe this system has exceeded that expectation."

The Miele CVA 2000 series uses individual Nespresso capsules, each containing enough precision-ground coffee to brew one cup. Users fill the water container and place the capsules into the system. The user then selects the size and type of coffee desired. A Cappuccinatore dispenses frothed/steamed milk into the cup as the coffee/espresso is brewed. More than 12 varieties of Nespresso coffee capsules are available.

According to the company, the unit can take up to five different flavor capsules in a rotating dispenser. The consumer loads the capsules in place and then makes selection by pushing a button on the front of the machine.

The new CVA 2000 series is available in two models: the CVA 2650 and the CVA 2660. The company says the system does not require a fixed water supply connection and can be installed virtually anywhere. The series will be available in black or stainless steel, with retail prices between U.S. $1,999 and $2,099.
